With our blog we'll attempt to keep our friends updated on our travels through Canada, into Alaska, and the return home.

We'll post photos and updates as we are able -- with the assumption that there will be
places where we are unable to connect to the
electronic world for a few days.

The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail is a multi-purpose paved bike/walk/etc trail that runs from Kincaid Park, which is near John and Diana's house on the west side of Anchorage, along the coast to downtown Anchorage.  Diana let me use her new Specialized fat tire bike with a suspension front-end to ride the trail.  It was a great ride.  About 11 miles each way.  I had lunch Downtown and then rode back to Kincaid Park.  Saw a pair of moose, a mom and calf, feeding along the trail.  I chose not to stop to take a picture.

Kincaid Park is at the lower left, Downtown is upper right.

The path is next to the water at times and up on the bluff above the water at others.
Looking westward out into Cook Inlet near Anchorage.  The bike path goes along the bluff in the distance and is right under the approach to Ted Stevens Airport.

Looking west toward the Turnagain Arm

What do you see in this gnarly tree?
